Sailing onboard one of the iconic Queens of Cunard Line is a bucket list item for many cruisers including myself. What a magnificent indulgence with such royal treatment! From the moment you step onboard you are treated like royalty. The Queen Victoria’s art displays range from beautiful sculptures to interesting pieces of cruising history.
Meals were sumptuous; however, the food at the Golden Lion Pub was not to be missed. Each afternoon, the tea and freshly baked scones were a great treat to tide you over until dinner.
Services in the Mareel Spa were incredible with the reflexology massage feeling like a touch of heaven. Fencing is one of many activities offered on this ship, although for the safety of others and myself, I did not participate.
The entertainment on board consisted of a selection amazing theatre shows and Gala balls or a more relaxing experience of playing a game in the library. While the Royal Court singers and dancers were fantastic, of all the entertainment onboard my personal favorite was the Roaring 20’s party!
We sailed from Rome roundtrip stopping at Florence, Monte Carlo, Marseille, and Barcelona. Two of my favorite excursions were a visit to Cinque Terre and Montserrat. A few days in Rome prior to the cruise is highly recommended and it will not disappoint. Since my dad had visited Pompeii when he was in the Navy, it had always been a dream of mine to experience it firsthand and, I must say, it was both unbelievable and fascinating. That so much has been uncovered and is still stuck in time just like it was seconds before Mt. Vesuvius erupted.
Because Cunard offers layered levels of service, you can choose a price range that works with your budget. Overall, Cunard Line was everything one could expect with some added touches. Next on my “to do” cruise list is the Cunard Queen Mary Transatlantic itinerary.
