Stunning Switzerland!

At the completion of our river cruise, we enjoyed two nights in Switzerland. We traveled to Lucerne by train and stayed at Hotel Des Balances in the heart of Old Town. With a wide variety of shops and restaurants within walking distance and the train station only about a ten-minute walk away, we were treated to a fantastic view of the Reuss River and historic covered bridge from our room. The weather was nice enough that we could enjoy sitting on our balcony and taking in the breathtaking view.

The highlight of our time in Switzerland was the Golden Circle tour to Mt. Pilatus. We took the ariel cable car to the top of the mountain, then climbed what seemed to be 100 steps to the to the viewing platform. The spectacular view can hardly be described, and pictures simply do not do it justice! There are two hotels at the top and plans are to stay in one of them on my next trip to Switzerland. Thankfully, we could take the cogwheel train back down the mountain. It is known as the World’s Steepest Cogwheel railway. After traveling back to Zurich on the train, we did very little except relax after a very active vacation. Switzerland is already calling my name and I want to return to fully experience all the other areas and the beauty Switzerland has to offer!
